Emergency Surgical Procedures at Animal Emergency Care of Braselton

Medical emergencies are every pet owner’s worst nightmare, especially when they involve surgery. Animal Emergency Care of Braselton is staffed with the best and brightest veterinary surgeons in the area. We perform all surgical procedures in our stellar surgical suite which is equipped with the most modern tools and equipment available today. Here are some of the emergency surgical procedures we perform if your pet is in need.

Cesarean Section

If your pet is having trouble giving birth, she probably needs surgery to save her and her puppies or kittens lives. Bring her in for an emergency C-section soon as possible.

Exploratory Laparotomy

When your pet has a problem and we don’t its origin, an exploratory laparotomy helps our surgeon identify the source so it can be treated. We generally look for foreign objects, abdominal abnormalities, and infection.
Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus

Otherwise known as bloat, this occurs mostly in dogs who have eaten a large amount of food. The stomach expands, which stops blood from getting to the stomach lining. The stomach may then twist which requires emergency surgery to put it back in position.

Gastrointestinal Foreign Body Removal

Pets like to play with and purposefully or accidentally ingest objects such as toys, strings, bones and more. If these get stuck in the gastrointestinal tract, the pet will vomit, have diarrhea and lose his or her appetite. Immediate surgery is necessary to remove the object and save the pet’s life.

Acute Abdomen Treatment

Whether because of trauma, cancer, or something else, bleeding in the abdomen is serious business. With this surgery, we remove the blood from the pet’s abdomen.

Wound Repair

Some wounds are deep and unable to be easily repaired. We use this surgery to clean and stitch up deep wounds.
Other Emergency Surgical Procedures

Intestinal obstructions, disease or illness can demand the removal of a portion of the pet’s intestines. Emergency eye surgery is necessary when pressure builds up behind the eye. If your female pet develops a uterine infection, complications may require emergency surgery. Finally, sometimes injury or illness may necessitate the emergency removal of a pet’s spleen.
If the time comes when your pet needs urgent intervention, Animal Emergency Care of Braselton’s team of dedicated and skilled veterinarians will step up to the plate and perform the life-saving surgery he may need.
