Keeping Your Pets Safe This Christmas

The Christmas holiday is probably the most famous holiday in the world whereby we all come together to share, celebrate and connect with friends, family and loved ones. Gifts, treats and laughter define the holiday. However, the furry members of the family remain forgotten often. Probably due to the fact that they can’t receive or give gifts. Christmas is, however, a moment of sharing and everyone should be included. Pets need to be kept safe, clean and be given good treatment just like the other members of the family. Furthermore, the Christmas period involves a lot of visitation from family and friends therefore embarrassment from pets need to be avoided.

How to Handle Your Pet During Christmas

The first thing to get right with pets during Christmas is managing your pets with the incoming visitors. Some pets, especially dogs, may not get along well with some visitors they find not amusing. This may be embarrassing to see your dog getting into a confrontation with a visitor they don’t like. Aggressive pets should be kept at an arm’s length from visitors.

Keep Your Pets Away From Christmas Decorations

The Christmas tree is always the centre of attraction for the family especially due to the balloons, string decorations and strobe lights. Some pets, especially cats, may tamper with the decorating materials due to their playful nature. It brings out the need to keep them away from the position of ruining everything that took you so long to prepare.

Xmas Delicacies and your Pet

Christmas delicacies are another area to look out for when it comes to pets. Some pets’ curiosity may be aroused by the sweet smell emerging from the kitchen. Keep all food covered to avoid the embarrassment of a pet ruining your meals.

Potential Food Poisoning

Pets should be well looked out for to avoid the ingestion of toxic foods. The festivities around Christmas may include foods like chocolate, fatty foods like bacon alcohol and spiced foods. Some of these foods may end up being taken by pets especially from visitors not familiar with your pet’s diet. It is therefore wise to personally feed your pets to avoid incurring the expenses of curing an intoxication from toxic foods.

Keeping Your Pet Warm this Festive Season

The Christmas period comes to many people during winter whereby we all mind about our protection from the cold weather. However, we tend to forget our pets when seeking warmth. Pets too do experience cold and therefore, need to be protected from the cold. Investing in heating equipment for the pets and a good shelter will save the pets from potential harm like frostbites.

Keeping the above points will go a long way in helping you to manage your pets well and navigate the festive season smoothly.
