Thanksgiving Treats You Can Share with Your Pets

The thanksgiving holiday comes as a great opportunity to thank and treat our loved ones. Often, we tend to forget our pets who make part of our family. Despite their inability to know whether it is thanksgiving or not, it is, important to give them a feeling of appreciation for the company they give us and some like dogs for their security. Below is a list of top treats you can try on your pet in the coming year on thanksgiving.

Turkey Breast

The thanksgiving holiday is all about sharing and the turkey a symbolic delicacy for years. Turkey breast is rich in protein which is ideal for your cats and dog. You should however check for allergies from your pet to ensure that they are not affected by it. The turkey breast should also be free from fat and spices which could otherwise harm the dog.

Vegetables

Despite their carnivorous nature, vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and potatoes are a great delicacy to dogs. They provide a high calorie and fibre diet with low fats to dogs.

Salmon

Salmon are a safe source of protein for dogs and cats too. Sharing a piece of salmon with your pet will go a great way in providing it with protein. You should, however, avoid bones as they cause indigestion and blotting. Bone pieces nay also cause injuries to the dog’s digestive tract.

Cheese

Serving your dogs with a piece of cheese provides them with vital vitamins, minerals and fatty acids.  Unlike milk cheese is low in lactose which is toxic to cats and dogs. Cheese can be an easy way to conceal medical pills for digs under medication.

Medical Checkup

Treating your pet is not all about food and their favourite delicacies. You can consider taking your cat or dog to the veterinary officer for a random checkup. Pets need sound medical attention too just like human beings.

Hike

Some pets especially dogs are energetic and need to exercise often to avoid obesity. Taking your pet for a walk or hike will help keep your dog active and motivated. A simple run in the park or in the woods helps the dog burn a few calories and keep it active.

In conclusion, our pets make us a part of our family and therefore deserve to be given fair treatment during the holidays. Pets should, however, be fed the right diet. Toxic foods should be avoided too.
