Venomous Snakes You Ought to Look Out For

Snakes have a long-standing enmity with humans especially due to the danger they pose to them. This enmity is also seen between many pets and snakes, especially cats and dogs. In this piece, we look at some of the most common venomous snake species in the world.

  1. Black Mamba

The black mamba is one of the most known snakes especially in terms of its venomous nature of their bites and aggression. The snake is known for its characteristic black mouth. The snake is large and quick and possesses a very powerful venom which is known to kill most of its victims. However, despite their aggression, the snake is always calm when unprovoked.

  1. Rattlesnakes

Rattlesnakes are the largest venomous snakes in the United States, known for their speed in striking and their venomous nature. The snakes are known for their rattles before striking as a warning when they feel threatened, although they do not always rattle before biting. Rattles have a wide variety of habitats within the US.

  1. The Boomslang

The boomslang is known for its ability to mimic a tree branch by hanging from the side and attacking their victims from the hanging position. The snake attacks their victim by injecting the venom into the victim repeatedly until they succumb.

  1. Copperheads

Copperheads have a characteristic hourglass shape on their bodies and vary in color from reddish to golden tan. They are known to be shy and will most probably not attack unless when they feel threatened. Their habitats are always varied and will mostly be found in forested areas, wet areas especially swamps, rivers and ponds.

  1. Coral Snakes

These snakes are commonly confused for king snakes which are not venomous due to their colorful rings around their bodies but arranged differently. These snakes hide under leaf litter or burrow under the soil to conceal themselves.

  1. The King Cobra

This snake is known for its huge size and venomous nature and paralysis-inducing neurotoxins enough to kill not just a human being if left untreated but also an elephant.

Conclusion

Venomous snakes pose real danger to human victims especially to human beings. It is, therefore, important to know each venomous species in order to avoid their attacks and get a remedy.
