From a dedicated emergency care staff to our affordable services, we are always ready to provide the lifesaving services your animal is in need of. This means if you can’t get your pet in to see your regular vet, there is no need to stress. All you need to do is bring him into our facility and we can assess his needs and provide the necessary services.
What to expect when you come to Animal Emergency Care of Braselton
When your pet is experiencing an emergency, we understand how stressful this is for both you and your pet. We want you to know what to expect when you arrive so that you are prepared for what comes next.
Whenever possible, it is a good idea to call ahead and let us know that you are bringing your pet in. This ensures that we are prepared for your pet’s arrival and have any emergency equipment your pet may need out and ready to use. We can have staff available to get your pet out of your vehicle if needed.
Be sure to bring any medications you pet is currently taken with you to the emergency room. Also bring any medical records you have for your pet with you.
When you arrive, the receptionist will give you paperwork to fill out and a technician will come to the lobby and assess your pet. Animals that are in critical condition will be seen before patients that are stable, otherwise patients are seen on a first come, first served basis. The technician will obtain a brief synopsis of why you have brought your pet in then take your pet to the treatment area to obtain vitals and weight and for an exam by the doctor if the doctor is not busy with another patient. If your pet is deemed to be critical or if it is having active bleeding, vomiting, or diarrhea, then your pet will remain in the treatment room for observation and you will be placed in an exam room to speak with the doctor as soon as possible. If your pet is stable, then it will be returned to you and you both will be put in an exam room when possible to speak to the doctor.
If your pet is in very critical condition and requires immediate medical treatment, a technician or the receptionist will inform you of what is required and ask you to sign an emergency authorization for stabilization and give you an initial estimate. This estimate is only for emergency stabilization and a detailed estimate and treatment plan will be discussed with you once the pet is stable.
Once your pet has been examined by the doctor, the doctor will discuss recommended diagnostics and a treatment plan and an estimate will be given before any procedures are performed. Once diagnostics are performed, the doctor will discuss the findings with you and update the treatment plan and estimate if necessary.
Payment is due when services are rendered. We accept cash and credit cards. For those clients that need a payment plan option, we accept Care Credit and our receptionist can help you apply if needed. If your pet is hospitalized, then a deposit will be collected before you leave your pet with us and the remaining balance will be collected when you pick up your pet. On every day except for Sunday all pets must be picked up between 7 am and 7:15 am. At that time your pet will be either discharged to home or you will be advised to transfer your pet to your primary veterinarian.
After every emergency visit, your primary veterinarian will receive either by fax or email, a copy of your pet’s medical record, any lab work performed, and treatment sheets and ICU notes if your pet was hospitalized. Xrays will be put on a CD-ROM for you to take to your veterinarian. If your pet is being transferred to your primary veterinarian, the doctor on duty will call your veterinarian and let them know you are coming and if possible speak with your veterinarian about your pet’s case.
Please remember that sometimes multiple emergencies arrive at the same time. Please be patient and understand that we are doing our best to care for everyone’s pets as quickly as possible but that waits cannot always be avoided. We will do our best to keep you updated on wait times and if your pet is in the treatment area, on the status of your pet.
Our veterinarians and staff members understand the urgency, frustration, and fear you experience when your pet becomes suddenly sick or injured.
